Mobilization At Xavier
About
As the premier community service organization of the University, Mobilization at Xavier is a coalition of students with the desire to promote social awareness and social responsibility through community service within the Greater New Orleans area. Mobilization At Xavier encompasses multiple service programs created to address different populations within our community. These programs include Adopt-A-Grandperson, Helping Hands, Homework Clinic, Mentoring On The Move, OURStory, Pair Care, and Pet Awareness with Students. Mobilization at Xavier also serves as the focal point of service within the University, overseeing all service endeavors. Together we are Takin' it to the M.A.X!
Adopt-A-Grandperson (AAGP)
- Adopt-A-Grandperson (AAGP) engages with senior citizens by facilitating activities, such as bingo, puzzles, exercising, and painting, at local nursing homes.
Helping Hands
- Helping Hands combats the issue of food insecurity in New Orleans and improves the local community through restoration and beautification projects.
Homework Clinic
- Homework Clinic provides tutoring and educational activities to students while acting as positive role models for them.
Mentoring on the Move
- Mentoring on the Move mentors, tutors, and builds bonds with young men and women in the Greater New Orleans area.
OURStory
- OURStory aims to improve literacy in elementary school students by facilitating fun, interactive reading activities with them and helping them with everyday readings and homework.
Pair Care
- Pair Care serves adults and children with special needs by interacting with them and participating in enrichment activities, such as dancing, singing, and coloring, with the goal of promoting inclusivity.
Pet Awareness with Students (PAWS)
- Pet Awareness with Students (PAWS) allows students to bond with neglected animals at animal shelters in the Greater New Orleans area and to bring awareness to animal abuse and neglect.
